Founded in 1998 by Diana Spellman and Nirmal Kalsey, the company is well established as the premier quality food, beverage, ingredient and catering services consultancy, sourcing  over 120 million meals a year on behalf of its clients.

PARTNERS IN PURCHASING (PIP) has helped to pioneer ethical, sustainable and environmental solutions and many of the suppliers we work with have been endorsed by LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming), RSPCA Assured, Red Tractor, as well as Food for Life programmes with the Soil Association. We have been nominated and shortlisted for Footprint Forum awards for consumer engagement and supply of British produce. We seek to trace as many products as we can to their source throughout the supply chain.

PIP plays a prominent role in food industry debate and campaigns, and is an authoritative voice on food sustainability, traceability and transparency in the supply chain. Diana is an ambassador for Arena (the principal networking organisation in hospitality), devotes time and support to Springboard Charity and has contributed to policy for the BHA sustainability campaign and the Sustain “Good Food on the Public Plate” and “Better NHS Food” campaigns. She is founder of roundtable group Mercury@ and a member of the Westminster Food and Nutrition Forum.

Our report on trading relationships in the farming community in key national markets was rewarded with a Highly Commended Award from the Nuffield Agricultural Trust for the quality of its research and innovation.
